Field Hockey Collects Multiple All-Conference Honors

Five Bears Were Honored By The America East Conference On Wednesday

BERKELEY – Five members of the California field hockey team earned recognition by the America East Conference, as announced by the conference on Wednesday. The Golden Bears placed a trio on the all-conference teams and two on the all-academic squad.

Cal has had at least two Bears earn all-conference accolades every year since 1980.

Kiki de Bruijne earned AE First-Team honors for the second straight season. The sophomore had previously been tabbed the AE Rookie of the Year last spring. De Bruijne is tied for second on the team in points with eight, including a team-leading four assists. She has scored in two of the last three games, as well.

Team captain Maddie Cleat also garnered AE First-Team accolades. The Scotland native picked up the all-conference recognition for the first time in her five-season career. Cleat is tied for second on the team in points with eight on three goals and two assists. She recently set a career high with seven shots, five on goal, at UAlbany last Sunday.

Anne Van Hoof earned some hardware in her lone season at Cal. The grad transfer from Wake Forest picked up AE Second-Team honors. Van Hoof paces the Bears in points with 10 on five goals. Van Hoof has been a staple in the backfield as well as helping on the offensive attack all season long.

Cato Knipping and Brynn Zorilla were tabbed to the AE All-Academic team. Knipping's academic resume continues to build as the native of The Netherlands previously was named to the AE Commissioner's Honor Roll each of the past two seasons. She is also a two-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction, as well as being named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad and the 2021 Pac-12 Spring Honor Roll.

Zorilla, also a team captain, continues academic success after being named each of the previous three seasons to the AE Commissioner's Honor Roll. She's also a three-time NFHCA National Academic Squad honoree, as well as being named to the 2021 Pac-12 Spring Honor Roll.

Cal enters the America East Tournament tomorrow as the No. 4 seed. The Bears will face No. 5 seed New Hampshire at 9 a.m. PT on Thursday.
