Senior Camryn Rogers Placed Third In The Women’s Hammer Throw And Set A Trio Of Records

Day One Results

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. –
For senior Camryn Rogers, breaking her own school record in the women's weight throw just once was not enough for the night.

On Rogers' final throw of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, the weight sailed an astonishing 24.06m (78-11.25), good for third place in the nation and ninth on the NCAA's all-time list. That throw came just minutes after she had already broken her own record with a toss of 24.02m (78-9.75) in the second round of the contest, which was hosted this year at the Birmington Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.

In addition to marking a new school record for the Golden Bears, Rogers' throw also broke the Canadian national record, formerly held by Olympian Sultana Frizell, and the all-time Pac-12 record, formerly held by UCLA's Alyssa Wilson. Including Friday's result, Rogers has earned four All-American honors during her time at Cal – two in the weight throw and two in the hammer throw.

In her previous outing at 2021's indoor national championships, she finished sixth in the nation for the weight throw, just missing the podium. A year later, it was different.

Now, Rogers will look ahead to the outdoor season – and to ideally winning her third straight NCAA hammer throw title.
