Beavers Named BA Freshman All-American

Cal Slugger Adds Another Postseason Accolade Following Breakout Season

BERKELEY – California outfielder Dylan Beavers added another 2021 accolade to his resume Thursday as he was named a freshman All-American by Baseball America. Beavers earned a spot on the publication's second team.

Because the 2020 college baseball season was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Baseball America included second-year student-athletes – including Beavers – on its 2021 freshman All-American teams.

Beavers established himself as one of the nation's bright young stars in his first full collegiate season, leading the Pac-12 in home runs (18) while slashing .303/.401/.630. The left-handed hitter ranked among conference leaders and topped Cal in multiple statistical categories, including RBI (49), doubles (11), runs (44) and walks (32). A product of Paso Robles, California, Beavers was one of just three Pac-12 players with 10-plus home runs and 10-plus stolen bases.

Beavers, who is playing for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team this summer, has hauled in multiple postseason accolades since early June. In addition to his recognition from Baseball America, Beavers has been named an NCBWA All-American (third team) and freshman All-American (second team), along with earning spots on the ABCA All-West Region and All-Pac-12 first teams.
