CAL TO HONOR INJURED STUDENT-ATHLETES ROBERT PAYLOR AND CHRIS FATILUA

Cal will honor a pair of student-athletes – Robert Paylor and Chris Fatilua – who have suffered spinal cord injuries within the last two years at upcoming home football games. Paylor will be honored when the Bears host Oregon on Sept. 29, while Fatilua will be honored during the Bears' homecoming contest against UCLA on Oct. 13.

Paylor, a member of the Golden Bears' rugby program, suffered his injury during the Varsity Cup Final in May of 2017. Fatilua was injured in an accident in his hometown of San Diego in June of 2018 only days before he was scheduled to move to Berkeley to begin his career with the Cal football program.

Paylor and Fatilua both began their rehabilitation at Craig Hospital, a world-renowned facility that exclusively specializes in rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injury. Paylor has returned to Cal as a student this semester while Fatilua is home and expected to attend Cal in the future.

The rehabilitation efforts of both can be supported on their respective GoFundMe. pages
