TUCSON, ARIZ.  – Coming off a strong end to the regular season, the Cal women's golf team begins postseason play on Monday, teeing off at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships. Arizona is serving as the host school for the conference championships, which will be played at the Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson (Par 72, 6,458 yards).

The Golden Bears will debut a brand new lineup for the Pac-12 Championships, with Lucia Gutierrez, Marthe Wold, Marianne Li, Maria Herraez, and Jiyoon Jang teeing off on the 10th hole at 8 am PT Monday morning. The Bears will be paired with nine-seed Washington in the opening round. Live scoring is available one line at www.golfstat.com.

"The strength of our team is that we are more than just five players," said head coach Nancy McDaniel, who has guided Cal to two conference titles during her tenure in Berkeley. "With our depth, we're able to bring in a new lineup that we think will compete well at the Pac-12 Championships. It's also great to get more players experience in this environment as we get ready for NCAA Regionals. Whenever you're playing at this time of the year, it's always a new challenge. But I don't think we've seen the best from this group yet, and that's really exciting as we enter Pac-12 and NCAA play."

The Golden Bears ended the regular season with a fourth-place finish at the Silverado Showdown on April 11, giving Cal its third consecutive top-five finish in a stroke play event. Gutierrez, a senior from Peru, was Cal's top performer at Silverado, finishing T9 for her second top-10 finish in her last three tournaments. An Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 Selection in 2016, Gutierrez tied for 12th at the Pac-12 Championships last season and has finished in the top-25 in all three previous appearances at the conference tournament.

Junior Marthe Wold is also coming off an impressive performance her last time out, shot a season-low 69 (-3) in the final round of the Silverado Showdown for her lowest round since shooting 67 (-3) at the 2014 Schooner Classic.

Sophomore Marianne Li had a remarkable postseason showing last year, becoming the first player in Cal women's golf history to qualify for the NCAA Championships as an individual.  Li punched her ticket last year as a freshman after finishing as a tri-champion at the NCAA Shoal Creek Regional and finished T36 at the Pac-12 Championships.

Freshmen Maria Herraez and Jiyoon Jang will get their first taste of collegiate postseason play, but have impressed so far in their rookie campaigns. Herraez has finished in the top-15 in three of her five stroke play events this season and has the second-lowest scoring average on the team at 74.3 while Jang is set to appear in her first tournament of the spring after competing in all three competitions in the fall. Her best result came at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, leading the Bears with a T15 finish after shooting 2-under (214).

The Golden Bears are looking to improve upon a ninth-place finish at the 2016 Pac-12 Championship. Cal won the Pac-12 title in 2012 and the Pac-10 championship in 2003 and is seeking its 18th consecutive trip to the NCAA Regionals.
